Learning Arabic is easy

I want to take this opportunity to
crush a very common misconception
about learning Arabic. And that is
that this language is hard to learn.

Please don't ever say that.
It hurts my feelings. Yes, it
requires effort... everything does.
Yes, you will face challenges from
time to time... that's part of the
journey. Yes, you will have a few
minor setbacks... how can you
appreciate the results without this? But
please don't ever think that this
language is hard to learn.

This language has been studied and
documented meticulously over
hundreds of years. It's come to a
point where it's extraordinarily
mature, systematic and organized.
Don't confuse its maturity and its
organization for complexity or difficulty.

Let me give you a small example
of just how easy this language is.
Sarf (morphology) is the study of
the changes that occur in Arabic
words in order to change the meaning
slightly; verb conjugation, for
example, is a major topic in Sarf.

Now if I give you any verb in the
language and ask you to completely
dissect and explain it, you're going
to use the rules of Sarf.

If I ask you to dissect a verb, all
things being equal, there are theoretically
about 150,000 possible answers you
could give me. In other words, your
chances of correctly analyzing a verb is
1 in 150,000 (this number is really
rough).

But if you know Sarf, you can do
this easily. In fact, you only need
to learn about 120 rules to be able
to do this. By learning only 120 things,
you will have actually learned 150,000
things.

Just by learning a few things, you
already gain incredible depth. And
this is how the language is... the
language is designed to make your
life easy. The language has been
designed in a way that no other
language has been designed. It is
structured to give you the biggest
bang for your buck!

Arabic is easy to learn. You can
definitely do it. No excuses.

If the above made sense to you,
then I'm sure you can gain a lot from
studying Arabic using the same
method which got me to where I
am today:

Love,
Mohtanick
